Make sure you renew your USIHC membership by the end of the year to get the WorldFengur subscription. And also to maintain your CIA status you have to be a member of the USIHC.

Like last year this year this is an election year as well and we would like to encourage you all to vote for our CIA member Heidi Kline. She has put a lot of work into promoting our breed and is a great candidate. She is the current Competition Chair.

Need a renewal form?

The Atli Clinic is over.

The Clinic was a huge success. Everyone left really happy and feeling they learned something useful from Atli. On Sunday we changed it up a bit by letting everyone have an individual lesson with Atli and that was really popular among the participants. He will be back in the spring and we will keep you posted as soon as we get the final dates. Click here to see some photos from the clinic.

Thank you to everyone that came and we look forward seeing you at the next one!

Coming from the USIHC in 2007 - WorldFengur for everyone!!

In 2007 the USIHC will be offering a FREE basic subscription* to WorldFengur to all USIHC members.

WorldFengur is a web database program, which opens access to a database containing information on Icelandic horses in the membership countries of the
FEIF (International Federation of Icelandic Horse Associations). WorldFengur is a joint effort by the Farmers Association of Iceland (FAIC) and FEIF to construct an official and central database on horses of Icelandic origin located all over the world. In WorldFengur you can find comprehensive information on around 300,000 Icelandic horses all around the world e.g. pedigree, offspring, assessments, owners, breeders, BLUP, colors, microchips and more. Also you can find over 3,600 pictures of breeding horses. The US has been a member of WorldFengur for several years.

****However, to be eligible for this free basic subscription current members MUST be US residents and renew their membership for 2007 no later than December 31, 2006. No late renewals will be eligible for this free offer.****

Do you know somebody that is not a USIHC member, but is interested in this offer? Then suggest to them that they join the USIHC for this great benefit as all new members who are US residents will also be eligible.

This benefit alone is worth more than the cost of a single USIHC membership as the usual fee for the basic WorldFengur subscription is approximately $60!

So don’t delay – renew today! Need a renewal form?
Go to: www.icelandics.org/join.html

*The basic subscription is for one year or 300 log-ins, whichever is reached first.

Heidi is very qualified for the job. She has put on shows at her Ranch, competed at the World Championships twice now and is an active USIHC Intern Judge that just received a special permission from Marlise Grimm to go to the FEIF Judges Seminar and take the National Judges Exam. She is one of only two to receive this permission.

The CIA Open was held this past weekend at Hobby Horse Ranch. David and Heidi did a fantastic job hosting and organizing the show. The final results are posted on the USIHC website. Click here to see photos from the show.

- The Open Tolt finals were the most exciting finals of the show. It was filled with all CIA members and we all rode hard. Will and Tjaldur won, Anne-Marie and Blaer second, me and Thor third and Heidi and Oskar fourth.
- Anne-Marie won the four-gait and David was second on Sorli.
- David also won five-gait on Sorli and Lorrie and her mare Gaefa were second.
- In Open T2 were all CIA members as well. Anne-Marie won on Huni, I was second on Dreyri and David and Dabbi third.
- Linda was the only CIA member in the Novice classes and she won the Four-gait.
- David won the Amateur Tolt on Dabbi.
So overall the CIA members did really well.

Message from the Cascade Club on their upcoming Evaluations:

The dates for the official breeding evaluation near Boise, Idaho in September have been changed. They were originally scheduled for September 16-17 with the seminar on Friday the 15th. Due to a schedule conflict with the owner of the facility (Rockin' R Icelandic Horses), we've had to move the dates to September 30-October 1 with the seminar on Friday the 29th. Much angst has been associated with the selection of these dates, but we're hoping that these still provide dry weather in Boise and limit potential schedule conflicts.

Registration packets are in process and will be downloadable from the Cascade Icelandic Horse Club web site in the near future. We'll also be doing a mailing by request and some limited distribution.

The costs will be comparable to those used for the Flugnir Evaluation in Wisconsin last year, plus there will be a generous "bonus" provided by Rich Porter, owner of Rockin' R. The Saturday night barbecue and musical entertainment will be free to all participants and guests.

It's going to be a great time, so mark your calendars, get your horses ready and plan to join us!

The Atli Clinic is over.

The Clinic was a huge success. Everyone left really happy and feeling they learned something useful from Atli. He will be back this fall and we will keep you posted as soon as we get the final dates.

Thank you to everyone that came and we look forward seeing you at the next one!

4.12.06 - David Kline

I'm sorry everyone but I have to cancel the April show. The rain has been so bad here that we won't be able to get your vehicles into the parking area and half of the pens are mud bogs. The track itself is ok but after the mud experience we had in Sweden I feel it's better to cancel the show than to ask you to keep your horses in several inches of mud and have to walk through quite a lot of mud to get to and from your horses. Hopefully the rain will diminish soon so I can prepare for the May show.

CIA had a little booth space at the USIHC annual meeting this past weekend. We had posters of the CIA member owned stallions and I think all of them got some good feedback and interest.

CIA was the only club that had 100% members also members of the USIHC that made us very proud
